⮚ Day 1: Arrival in Srinagar | Explore Local Sights | Visit Mughal Gardens | Nishat Bagh & Shalimar Bagh
Your journey begins in Srinagar, where you'll be greeted and transferred to your houseboat or hotel. The afternoon is yours to relax or explore at your leisure. As the day winds down, enjoy a peaceful Shikara ride on Dal Lake, soaking in the views of the surrounding mountains and watching the sunset. Discover the historic Mughal Gardens, including the serene Nishat Bagh and the lush Shalimar Bagh, both designed during the Mughal era. End your day with dinner and an overnight stay on the houseboat.
⮚ Day 2: Drive from Srinagar to Kargil via Zojila Pass (11,575 ft) | Explore Drass, One of the Coldest Inhabited Places
After a hearty breakfast, begin your scenic drive to Kargil. Travel through the verdant valleys and make a stop at Sonamarg, known for its rolling green meadows. Continue the journey over the snow-covered Zojila Pass, marking the entrance to Ladakh. Stop in Drass for a brief refreshment and passport checks before heading to Kargil, a key stopover between Srinagar and Leh. Settle into your hotel for the night.
⮚ Day 3: Kargil to Leh | En Route Visits to Magnetic Hill, Patthar Sahib, Sangam, and Lamayuru Monastery
Today’s drive takes you to Leh, with several fascinating stops along the way. Visit Gurudwara Patthar Sahib, the mysterious Magnetic Hill, and the confluence of the Indus and Zanskar rivers at Sangam. Continue to Lamayuru Monastery, surrounded by the lunar-like landscapes of Moonland. You’ll also visit the Hall of Fame, a museum dedicated to the brave soldiers of the Kargil war. Arrive in Leh and spend the night at your hotel.
⮚ Day 4: Explore Leh's Landmarks | Leh Palace, Shanti Stupa, and Local Market
Start the day by visiting Leh’s iconic Shanti Stupa, known for its panoramic views and spiritual significance. Then, head to Leh Palace, a historic royal residence offering beautiful vistas of the town below. Spend the rest of the day exploring the local markets or simply enjoying the city’s unique atmosphere. Return to your hotel for an overnight stay.
⮚ Day 5: Leh to Nubra Valley via Khardung La (18,380 ft) | Discover Hunder Village and Sand Dunes
Begin your adventure with a drive over Khardung La, the highest motorable road in the world. Descend into Nubra Valley, where the landscape shifts dramatically to a cold desert with rolling sand dunes. In Hunder Village, take a camel ride on the famous Bactrian camels, unique to this region. Spend the night at a camp or hotel in Nubra.
⮚ Day 6: Visit Turtuk Village | Explore the Last Village on the India-Pakistan Border
After breakfast, head towards Turtuk, a quaint village on the banks of the Shyok River, and one of the last outposts before the India-Pakistan border. Once part of Pakistan, Turtuk is a gateway to the Siachen Glacier. Explore the village, visit the Balti Royal Heritage Museum, and learn about the local culture. Return to Hunder for an overnight stay.
⮚ Day 7: Nubra Valley to Pangong Lake via Shayok River | Visit Disket Monastery & Maitreya Buddha
Start the day with a visit to Disket Monastery, home to the towering Maitreya Buddha statue, offering stunning views of the valley. Then, travel along the scenic Shayok River to reach the breathtaking Pangong Lake, famous for its crystal-clear waters and dramatic surroundings. Spend the night at a lakeside camp.
⮚ Day 8: Pangong Lake to Leh via Changla Pass (17,590 ft) | Visit Thiksey Monastery, Shey Palace, and Rancho School
Depart Pangong Lake and journey back to Leh, crossing the high-altitude Changla Pass. Along the way, visit the impressive Thiksey Monastery, Shey Palace, and the Rancho School, made famous by the movie "3 Idiots." Return to Leh for a restful overnight stay at your hotel.
⮚ Day 9: Journey from Leh to Keylong or Sarchu (230 km)
Begin your long but scenic drive to either Keylong or Sarchu. Travel through the dramatic landscapes of Ladakh, passing Upshi, Tanglang La Pass (17,585 ft), and Lachungla Pass (16,617 ft), with stunning mountain vistas at every turn. Settle in for an overnight stay at a camp in Sarchu or a hotel in Keylong, depending on the route chosen.
